Scanpan Induction Cookware Guide

Switching to an induction cooktop, or buying for one? Not all cookware works on induction, so it's worth checking before you buy. This guide explains which Scanpan ranges are induction-ready, based on Scanpan's own information. Browse the range in our Scanpan collection.

Can you use Scanpan on induction?

Mostly, yes. Scanpan says almost all of its ranges work on induction. The exception is the original Classic range, which Scanpan describes as ideal for gas and ceramic cooktops but not suitable for induction. For a Classic-style non-stick pan on induction, choose Classic Induction.

Tips for cooking on induction with Scanpan

  • Use medium heat. Scanpan says its squeeze-cast aluminium conducts heat quickly and evenly, so you can sear well at medium heat. Induction heats fast, so there's rarely any need to go to maximum.
  • Preheat non-stick gently, for a minute or two on low to medium, before adding food.
  • Match the pan to the zone. Choose a pan whose base suits the size of your induction zone so it heats evenly.
  • Check the base. Scanpan notes that STS has a completely flat base for strong contact with the induction surface.

Where to start

If you're replacing everything for a new induction cooktop, a set from an induction-ready range is the simplest option. Compare them in our Scanpan cookware sets guide. For one great pan, read our fry pan guide.
